Dear All Following last week's discussions on Option 2 trial sites and the number of trialists that could be accomodated, BT has agreed to extend its trials to cover 14 (rather than 12) trialist operators. The number of trial colocations, however, has not changed, meaning that only one trialist will be active in more than one colocation site. This offers a reasonable opportunity to maximise learning from the trials process, without adversely impacting timescales for submission of live orders (September 2000), or for completion of the trials (June 2001). Reverting to the original list of proposed trialists, next in line were Telewest and Telinco. Between them, these operators bring further experience of a residential customer base and a relatively small market player, respectively. These two operators have, therefore, returned to the list of trialists. Oftel will, tomorrow, be issuing a brief press release, noting the positive progress being made by our group and highlighting the scope of the trials. At Thursday's OPF Focus Group meeting, we will discuss the introduction of a Trials Subcommittee, to monitor progress of the trials, provide a forum for adjusting product specifications and processes in the light of trial experiences and to be the focus for communication of experience gained through the trials process. I look forward to seeing all of you on Thursday, along with those intending to attend tomorrow's Products and Services Subcommittee meeting. best regards Colin Annette Tel. +44 207 675 2817 -- This communication contains information which is confidential and may also be privileged.
